Designing for Innovation: How We Brand a Mission-Centered Gala Experience
At SEREL, we believe creativity grounded in purpose has the power to change lives. That belief came to life in full color at The Chemotherapy+ Foundation’s 2024 Innovation Gala—an evening that honored innovation, celebrated community, and sparked courageous conversations in the name of cancer research.
From concept to execution, SEREL led the brand development for this year’s Gala, weaving together visual storytelling and mission-driven design to create a truly cohesive experience. Every detail—from the bold event identity to the powerful message on every t-shirt—was crafted to align with The Chemotherapy+ Foundation’s mission: to advance life-saving cancer research through awareness, action, and innovation.
Designing with Intention
We began by building a brand identity for the Gala that balanced elegance and innovation. The custom logo set the tone—sophisticated, clean, and future-focused—while printed programs, branded QR codes for live donation engagement, and thoughtfully curated takeaway gift bags (in collaboration with mission-aligned brands) extended that experience across every touchpoint.
Guests were guided through a seamless visual journey throughout the event, culminating in a branded atmosphere that was not only beautiful but emotionally resonant—an embodiment of The Chemotherapy+ Foundation’s vision of hope, courage, and progress.
Courageous Messaging That Resonates
One of the most talked-about elements of the night was the debut of Do You Touch Yourself?—a bold awareness campaign created by SEREL for The Chemotherapy+ Foundation. Designed to challenge taboos around self-exams and empower early detection, this unapologetically honest campaign was featured on custom t-shirts given to attendees. The shirts sparked conversation, inspired action, and quickly became a symbol of the evening’s fearless message.
Community, Commitment, and $40,000 Raised
With over 300 guests in attendance, the Innovation Gala achieved a monumental milestone—raising over $40,000 to advance ovarian cancer research. Through strategic call-to-action QR codes, compelling visuals, and a donation experience designed to feel intuitive and impactful, SEREL helped bring fundraising efforts to life in real-time.
